Pride Flag Raising Ceremonies
As Pride Month officially launched on June 1st, we have achieved important milestones across Canada, the ultimate seeing PM Justin Trudeau raising the Pride Flag over Parliament Hill last year.
The Toronto Gay Sailing Club (TGSC) is spearheading the #PrideFlagChallenge, a campaign to have simultaneous Pride Flag Raising Ceremonies across the various yacht clubs in Ontario, on June 19 at 18:00.
Inclusion and respect are strong values for all sailors. TGSC strives to uphold these by promoting the sport of sailing to younger and diverse audiences year-round.
Last year ABYC, EYC, FBYC and NYC all participated in #TGSC #PrideFlagChallenge, proudly raising and flying the Pride Flag for the duration of Toronto’s Pride Week.
This is the second year that Pride Month is being celebrated across Canada, so we are encouraging all Sail Canada / Ontario Sailing member clubs to fly the Pride Flag for a full week!
Pride Flag should be flown until June 25 at 18:00.
Register your club today and TGSC will make sure you are provided with a free Pride Flag upon request, and if you are in the GTA, we will send a TGSC volunteer to your club for your Pride Flag Raising Ceremony!
